DOUGLASVILLE - The Troup Tigers were up by four late and appeared to be on their way to a big win in their region opener.

Instead, it was homestanding Alexander that rallied to tie it before winning 77-71 in overtime.

Alexander pulled off the rare four-point play to tie it.

With less than 20 seconds remaining, an Alexander player hit a 3-pointer, and he was fouled on the play.

He made the free throw to tie it, and Troup was unable to hit the go-ahead shot, and it was on to overtime where Alexander pulled away.

Lakeithin Buckner led Troup with 23 points, and Demetrious Trammell added 16 points.

In the girls’ game, Troup hung tough with Alexander before losing 40-28.

The Lady Tigers were up 10-9 after the first quarter, and they were down 17-16 at the half and 24-23 through three periods.

Jessica Gilbert led Troup with nine points.

Troup’s teams host Heard County today.
