Mrs. Genevieve Dunson, 96, of LaGrange passed away Friday at the LaGrange Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Born and raised in Columbus, Georgia, she was the eldest child of the late Eddie Lee and Olga Crane Wilson. Mrs. Dunson spent her adult life in LaGrange where she was a long-time and faithful member of Warren Temple United Methodist Church. Mrs. Dunson worked many years at the Maidee Smith Memorial Nursery, retiring after serving as the director.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 64 years, James S. Dunson, and her brother, Edwin L. Wilson.
She is survived by her sister, Mildred V. Griffin, and sisters-in-law, Faustine Jones-Wilson and Annie C. Washington. She also leaves to mourn her passing numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. She was especially loved and care for by her nephew, William J. Griffin Jr., and niece, Wilma G. (Raymond) Johnson. Additionally, she will be lovingly remembered by her Godchildren: Albert and Mary Gilliam, their son Monte, and Freddie and Etta Billingslea.
Mrs. Dunson’s Service of Celebration will be Friday, January 11, 2013, at 11AM in the chapel of the Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home. Dr. W. T. Edmondson will officiate. Entombment will be in the Shadowlawn Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Warren Temple United Methodist Church, P O Box 2614, LaGrange, GA 30241.
The family will receive friends at the home of Albert and Mary Gilliam at 119 Clearview Drive, LaGrange.
