A burglar was caught in action and allegedly beaten by his victims.

According to LaGrange police, Officer Wendy Williams responded to a residence in the 600 block of Ware Street about 6:38 p.m. Friday to a report of a burglary.

The victim told Williams that he had left his home around 5 p.m. and returned about 90 minutes and noticed his front door was open.

Initially the victim said that no one was in the residence, and walked in to see that a 19 inch flat screen Sanyo TV , a 56 inch flat screen, an Xbox, and some clothing had been stolen, totaling about $715.

Williams observed that there was a shirt, black shorts, and a cellphone in the living room in which the victim said did not belong to him, his brother or his sister who also live at the residence. The victim said that the items were left on the scene by the burglar. He had also mentioned that his house had been broken into about two weeks ago, but did not report it because nothing was taken.

As Williams began processing the scene another officer arrived and informed her that there was a severely injured juvenile at West Georgia Medical Center who stated that he was caught inside the same residence by the homeowner. The victim denied twice that he had returned home and saw someone inside his residence, and later admitted he had.

The victim then told officers that, when he entered his home, he grabbed a baseball bat which was propped at the front door, and saw the suspect standing in his bedroom. The suspect told the victim he did not take anything and the victim asked where the other guys were, assuming that he did not commit the act alone. The victim said that during this conversation the suspect was walking towards him, and he swung his bat and struck the suspect in the head. He continued to beat the suspect with the bat until he rested in the living room.

The victim called his brother who showed up shortly after and he began punching the the suspect and asked where the stolen property was. He demanded the suspect to get out of his clothing and the victims had him write down his name and address before he left to give law enforcement.

When officers spoke to the suspect, he admitted to kicking in the front door of the residence and entered because he was looking for drugs and money. He said he had broken into the same residence a couple weeks earlier and stole $200.

A juvenile complaint was against the suspect for two charges of burglary and he was released to his father.

The case is still under investigation.
