A night of intended partying ended with the arrest of five people.

According to reports, LaGrange police officer Darrel Prichard was turning onto Chattahoochee Street Friday night when he saw a silver Durango with seven people inside parked on the side of the road. Prichard said the front seat passenger, who appeared to be underage, was drinking a beer, but tried to hide it once Prichard got out of his patrol car.

When he and his assisting officer approached the car, they saw the passenger, identified as an 18 year old, allegedly trying to hide the beer. Prichard noted that all of the occupants looked to be under 21 and saw a 12 pack of beer with several empty beer bottles inside the vehicle.

All of the occupants told officers that they were heading to a party at a night club.

As Prichard got each of the occupants out of the car, he said he noticed a smell of marijuana coming from inside. The driver, Lateah Walton, 19, whose address was unavailable, allegedly told officers that she had marijuana in the car and that she sold marijuana.

Darden and three passengers, two 18 year olds and a 19 year old, admitted to drinking alcohol and tested positive for alcohol in a road-side alcohol test. They, along with the front seat passenger, were arrested and charged with consumption of alcohol by a minor and taken to Troup County Jail. Two other male passengers tested negative for alcohol and were not charged.

Officers found 12 bags of suspected marijuana on Walton and also charged her with marijuana possession with intent to distribute.
