Drug agents with the Troup County Sheriff’s Office arrested three on charges of possession of methamphetamine, after a search was conducted on a Hogansville residence.
According to a sheriff’s report, agents had received information that methamphetamine was being sold from a residence in the 100 block of West Hopson Road. Agents arrived at the residence Wednesday about 5:50 p.m. to investigate and were invited inside by a resident who advised agents that he and two females, one including his sister, Christina Longshore, 32, of Hogansville, were the only ones at the residence.
As they were talking, Ted Welborn, 45, of LaGrange, had walked into the living room from a back room, and the resident said he did not know Welborn was at the location.
Agents asked Welborn if anyone else was in the back bedroom, and he walked back towards the bedroom as agents followed. Welborn walked toward the closet, allegedly engaging in some suspicious movements as if he were trying to hide something. The agents observed that Longshore and Tammy Chapman, 43, of Hogansville, whom agents were familiar with due to recent tips about her selling methamphetamine, were inside the room, the reports said.
Due to Welborn’s alleged suspicious actions, agents asked everyone to leave the room. Investigator Wesley Gaddy asked to speak to Longshore since it was her room. While speaking with her, Gaddy observed a bag of suspected methamphetamine lying on the floor near the closet and several sandwich bags, one of which allegedly contained four more bags of methamphetamine. Longshore denied knowing that they were in her bedroom.
During the search of the room, agents found two more bags of suspected methamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe that had been used to smoke methamphetamine. One set of digital scales was found in Longshore’s purse and another in Chapman’s purse. Agents found several sandwich bags in Welborn’s pocket, similar to the ones found near the bedroom closet that contained the suspected methamphetamine.
Welborn, Longshore and Chapman were arrested on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of drug-related objects and booked into the Troup County Jail.
