It’s a recipe that has worked for 18 years. Mix an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast with a good cause, and the results are bound to satisfy.
On Saturday, the LaGrange Kiwanis Club will host its annual pancake breakfast at First Baptist Church on the square from 7 until 11:30 a.m.
Club members estimate they serve 2,000 pancakes each year, and to do it they deploy a secret weapon: two self-rotating, nearly 40-inch griddles, custom designed for the event.
“Our custom cookers really help us produce the needed volume when things get busy,” said Stephen King, chair of this year’s event. “Sausage can be left warming, but pancakes have got to be hot off the griddle.”
Tickets to the breakfast are $5, and proceeds fund college scholarships for local students. They can be purchased from any Kiwanian or at the door.

Started more than 50 years ago, the LaGrange club is one of more than 8,400 Kiwanis Clubs around the world. Last year, Kiwanians raised more than $100 million for community service activities, with a special emphasis on meeting the needs of young children.
