Facing Douglass Friday afternoon in Atlanta, the Cavaliers scored 16 runs in the third inning en route to an 18-0 victory.
The Cavaliers will continue their region schedule when they host B.E.S.T Academy today at 5:30 p.m.
Douglass managed to keep things close for the first two innings Friday, but that all changed in the explosive third inning.
Austin Garrett had a pair of doubles for Callaway, Hunter Heath had a two-run double, and Colby Freeman knocked in a pair of runs.
Callaway coach Dusty Hubbard said every position player who made the trip had at least two at-bats.
Drew Elliston got the job done on the mound, pitching 2 2/3 innings, and he had eight strikeouts.
Cortez Leonard, making his first pitching appearance of the season, got the final out on a popout.
Hubbard said Elliston, a senior right-hander, has been a huge contributor this season.
“He can throw back-to-back days, he can start, he can relieve,” Hubbard said. “That helps. He can handle any role.”
On Thursday, Callaway lost to unbeaten East Coweta 6-3.
Nick O’Berry started for Callaway and had good stuff, but he was hurt by six walks.
“They got the big hits, and we didn’t,” Hubbard said.
