Woman’s car strikes store

A woman drove her car into the front of Shell Mart at 101 Hoffman Drive, causing minor damage to the building.

Police said Carolyn Rice, 51, of Stovall Road smelled of alcohol after she rammed the front of her car into the building while trying to park Friday morning. Four empty 24-ounce beer cans were found in the trunk of her vehicle.

Rice was charged with DUI.

Theft

A thief stole a handbag from a shopping cart in the parking lot of Food Depot at 908 Hogansville Road on Friday night. The owner had inadvertently left the bag in the cart after shopping.

Police said security camera footage showed a woman driving a red car stop and take the bag, which contained $350, a driver’s license, three credit cards, a Social Security card, a cell phone, a medical card and a $117 check.

Hit and run

A driver rammed into an outside air conditioner of Banzai Japanese Steak House at 1510 Lafayette Parkway on Friday, causing about $2,000 damage.
