It’ll be the best of both worlds this summer.

The West Georgia Superstar Football Camp will team up with Walt Harris’ Walt’s World, Inc. for a three-day youth football camp in May.

Both organizations held youth camps last year, and Ruben Hairston, founder of the Superstar camp, said the decision was made to join forces this year.

“We decided we could combine them together into one big camp instead of having two,” Hairston said. “We’ll just have more instructors. We’ll have more people to work with the kids.

“It’ll be a lot of guys out there that know the game, and they can pass on their experience. I’m hoping the kids will take advantage of it and they’ll come out.”

Harris, a LaGrange High graduate, has been playing in the NFL for more than 10 years, and he’s preparing for his fourth season with the 49ers.

Many of the camp instructors have played professional football, and Hairston said former LaGrange Granger and current Denver Bronco Wesley Woodyard will be helping out this year.

Woodyard, who starred at the University of Kentucky, will be a second-year linebacker for the Broncos.

“The kids, they know him. They know Wesley,” said Hairston. “It’s not like some of the older guys they don’t know.”

Hairston said Woodyard used to participate in the Superstar camp when he was young.

The camp will be held May 28-30 this year at Callaway Stadium.

The hours the first two days will be 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

On the camp’s final day, the hours are from 9 a.m. until noon.

On May 30, Hairston said free health screenings will be offered.
