A man walking on Carver Street near Tower Street said he fled from five men who attacked him and stole his shirt Thursday morning. The men surrounded the victim and physically assaulted him before taking the shirt carried in a paper bag, he said. No weapons were used and no arrests were made.
Stolen truck
A man shopping at LaGrange Mall at 1501 Lafayette Parkway returned to his parking space Thursday afternoon and discovered his $8,000 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was stolen. The man had his keys in one of his pockets and said he locked all of the vehicle’s doors.
Battery
A man who suffered a broken wrist during an altercation with his girlfriend along Lafayette Parkway has been charged with battery, DUI and driving with a suspended license.
A witness told LaGrange Police the man dragged his girlfriend into his SUV after an altercation on the side of the street and drove off. Police stopped the man in the parking lot of the Racetrac at 1517 Lafayette Parkway and smelled alcohol on the man’s breath. He was treated at West Georgia Medical Center for a broken wrist and released.
Arrests
– Nakel Johnson, 34, of Old Pond Road was charged with possession of cocaine.
– William Thomas, 38, of Waugh Road was charged with possession of methamphetamine. Troup County Sheriff’s deputies stopped Thomas’ vehicle on Troup Street near Lukken Industrial Drive Thursday morning. A clear plastic bag containing the drug was found inside his vehicle, deputies said.
– LaGrange police charged Reginald Wimbush, 21, of Newnan with sexual battery.
– It is the policy of LaGrange Daily News to print the names of people charged with felonies.
