Local growers will sell seasonal fruits and vegetables as well as jams, jellies, vinegars, herbs, flowers and baked goods from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturdays from June 20 through early October. The market will be set up in the lower Main Street parking lot on the corner of Main and East Depot streets, next to Carmike Cinemas.
The market is a combination of the FARM market, sponsored by Troup County Extension Service and held at First United Methodist Church, and the Agricultural Center market, organized by the Sierra Club. The market at First Methodist still will be held at 7 a.m. Tuesdays.
“The goal of the Market on Main is to help support local farming and locally grown produce by providing a location where everyone can join together, as well as bring people downtown,” said JoAnn Gentry with the Downtown LaGrange Development Authority. “It’s a great way to expose people to the downtown district while promoting a healthy lifestyle and diet.”
The DLDA is seeking produce vendors who can commit to selling each Saturday from June 20 through early October. Residents who are interested or have questions may call Gentry at (706) 298-4533.
