Mr. Woodyard, a native of LaGrange, was born March 23, 1933 and was the son of the late Robert Sr. and Mary Alice Woodyard.He was employed with GSA for 33 years and later retired to enjoy his favorite hobbies: golf and manicuring his yards in Atlanta and LaGrange. He was affectionately known as ‘Junior’ to all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include a daughter, Robin; son, Robert Woodyard, Atlanta; aunt, Mattie Woodyard, LaGrange; brother, Leroy (Mary) Woodyard, Flint, Mich.; sisters-in-law, Juanita Woodyard, LaGrange; Ellen Wade (Bill) McQueen, Alma (A.W.) Hayward; many other loving and caring relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Woodyard; brother, Hubbard Woodyard; and nephew, Arthur ‘Bo’ Woodyard.
The funeral service will be Saturday, August 22, 2009 at 1:00 PM at the Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2780 Bartley Road. Rev. Craig Ogletree will officiate. Burial will be in the Greenwood Cemetery in Atlanta.
The body will be placed in state at the church from Noon until the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Zion Hill Baptist Church, 2780 Bartley Road, LaGrange, Ga. 30240 in memory of Mr. Woodyard.
