Mrs. Young, a native of LaGrange, was born May 25, 1961, and was the daughter of Mildred Prather and Oscar Prather.She received her education in the Atlanta Public School system and at the University of Iowa, LaGrange College, and West Georgia Technical College. She was employed at Hanes Industrial and Kaydon for several years. She was a senior tax advisor for H & R Block for 10 years. She joined the North Avenue Missionary Baptist Church in Atlanta and later united with the Union Springs United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her mother, Mildred Prather, LaGrange; father, Oscar Prather, Atlanta; one son, Renaldo Prather, LaGrange; two grandchildren, Diamond of LaGrange and Baby Tigner of Newnan; one sister, Latasha (Rev. Durley) Prather Gates, LaGrange; niece and nephew, LaTia Gates and Antoine Prather, LaGrange; aunts, Mamie Davidson and Alma (George) Williams, Atlanta; uncles, Isaac (Linda) Hubbard, Jackson, Ga., Rollie (Mary) Heard, Cleveland, Ohio, Terry (Adrian) Rowland, Birmingham, Ala.; special friend, Adrian Williams, LaGrange; many great aunts, cousins, and friends.
The funeral service will be Saturday, April 24, 2010, at 2 p.m. at the Union Springs United Methodist Church. Rev. Sequita Freeman will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will be at the home of her sister and brother-in-law, LaTasha and Rev. Durley Gates at 509 Everette Street.
