Before they don the LaGrange Academy uniform for the fall season, a trio of standouts on the team have some business to attend to.

LaGrange Academy’s Molly Child, Marina Wilkerson and Khadija Neely are each preparing to compete in the ASA national softball tournament.

A former Lady Warrior, 2010 graduate Abby Child, is also playing in the national tournament.

Wilkerson and Neely are teammates on the Georgia Academy16-and-under softball teamthat will be in College Station, Texas for the national tournament.

The two Child sisters, meanwhile, play on the same Georgia Impact 18-and-under team that’s heading to Marietta for the national tournament.

“I am really excited that we were able to make it this far,” Molly Child said. “We want to see how far we can get.”

While Molly Child is getting ready for her junior season of high-school ball, Abby Child is looking ahead to her freshman season at Anderson University after completing a remarkable five-year career at LaGrange Academy that included a couple of state championships.

Having the national tournament close by, Molly said, makes it easy for her parents to see the sisters play together once more before they go their separate ways.

“It’s good for my parents,” she said. “They get to stay close.”

Wilkerson said she’s eager to hit the road for her national tournament.

“It’ll be different going so far away,” she said. “We’ll get to see a lot of different teams. I’m looking forward to that
