Assault/battery

Police accused a drunken man of choking his girlfriend in her bedroom in the 100 block of Lafayette Court and chasing her down the street Thursday night as she tried to escape. The woman told police she was sleeping upstairs in her residence and awoke when her boyfriend wrapped his hands around her neck. The suspect then began slapping the woman before she got up and ran.

The woman fled to a neighbor’s residence, but no one was home. Two women driving by saw the suspect chasing the woman and offered her a ride to the police station. The suspect was charged with simple assault and simple battery under the Family Violence Act.

Terroristic threats

Two men involved in the filming of Jake Sessions’ early morning program on TV-33 began arguing Thursday shortly before 1:30 a.m. After the broadcast ended, police reports said, one of the men began yelling and threatened to get his gun from his truck parked outside and shoot the other man if he tried to exit the building. Police arrived and calmed the man down. No arrests have been made.

Man offered ride, refuses

to leave vehicle

A man staying at Town and Country Motel at 712 New Franklin Road Thursday night offered a ride to a drunken stranger who later refused to exit his vehicle. Reports said the men had a brief conversation outside the motel and the driver offered the suspect a ride. About five minutes later, the suspect scared the man by acting unusual, police said. The suspect then informed the man that he had no intentions of exiting the vehicle. The man then pulled into Chevron at 315 New Franklin Road and offered to buy the suspect some beer. The man called police after entering the store and the suspect was charged with public drunkenness.

Hit-and-run

• A car exited IHOP’s parking lot at 1513 Lafayette Parkway Thursday night and struck the front passenger side of a vehicle travelling west on Lafayette Parkway before spinning several times and fleeing. No one was injured and the amount of damaged caused is undetermined.
