Three people face misdemeanor charges after a fight in the Piggly Wiggly parking lot at 511 S. Greenwood St.
Two men said they’d gone to the store for drinks and when they came out, a third man was standing in front of their car and told them they couldn’t leave. A fight between the three men and a woman in one of the cars, and one of the men pulled out a Swiss Army knife. In response, another man pulled out a 9mm handgun and fired a “warning shot” into the ground.
This caused one of the men to believe he’d been shot in the foot, so everyone got in their vehicles and was leaving as police arrived. Police stopped both vehicles and recovered the gun and the knife.
Three of the men face disorderly conduct charges and one man also faces a charge of reckless driving.
