Augusta, GA – Mrs. Miriam Morgan Bowen of Thomson passed away on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at Thomson Manor Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Bowen was born in Dearing, Georgia on November 4, 1922. She was a resident of Augusta, Georgia, for many years before returning to McDuffie County in 1977. She later moved to LaGrange, Georgia, to be close to her daughter before returning to the Thomson area in 2011.

Mrs. Bowen was a 1944 graduate of University Hospital Barrett School of Nursing. She was a long-time member of Trinity-on-the-Hill United Methodist Church in Augusta where she was the past president of the Women’s Society of Christian Service (United Methodist Women), a Sunday school teacher and a member of the church choir.

Mrs. Bowen is preceded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Dr. John Burman Bowen, and a daughter Claire Bowen Beall of LaGrange. She is survived by two sons: Dr. Robert B. Bowen (Gail) of Andalusia, AL, William R. Bowen (Toni) of Dearing; son-in-law: Dr. Avery Beall of LaGrange; seven grandchildren: Catherine Stallworth (David Anderson) of Houston, TX, Patton Beall (Elizabeth) and Dr. Bowen Beall (Sarah) both of LaGrange, John Bowen and Brook Bowen both of Maryland, Allison Donatelli (Nathan) of Athens, GA, Will Bowen (Marley) of Atlanta, GA; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service was held Friday, October 26, 2012 at 1:00 P.M. in Hillcrest Memorial Park with Rev. John Barnes IV officiating.
