Mr. Clifford I. Laney, 85, of LaGrange, passed away on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 at West Georgia Medical Center.
Mr. Laney was born March 1, 1927 in Randolph County, AL, son of the late Arlin K. and Willie Bell Prescott Laney. He had lived in LaGrange most of his life and was a member of Callaway Baptist Church. Mr. Laney worked for Callaway Mills and retired from West Georgia Medical Center after 25 years of service. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ellen Ruth Lewis Laney; and siblings, Bill Laney, Mildred Harris and Lois Noles .
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Gina L. and Daniel Schlomer of LaGrange; grandchildren, Laney and Wesley Schlomer, both of LaGrange; a sister, Nell Laney Young of Ranburne, AL; a brother, Curtis Laney of Woodland, AL; sisters-in-law, Hazel Cliett and Barbara and Franklin Hill, all of Augusta; a brother-in-law, David and Jeanette Lewis of Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, November 30, 2012 at 3 p.m. in the Chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, with the Rev. Ronnie Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. The family will gather at the funeral home to receive friends beginning at 2 p.m. until the funeral hour.
