The night was clear, and crisp, as the 35th Annual LaGrange Christmas got underway on Thursday. First and second place prizes were awarded to parade entries in six different categories with an additional award being given to the overall best float.
Starting from LaGrange High School, the parade made its way up North Greenwood Street, turning onto Vernon and then onto Bull Street and finally turning onto Main Street to finish the loop back towards the high school. The streets were lined with excited, yelling and smiling spectators, many of whom were tucked snugly in blankets and sitting in the back of their trucks. Cries of “Merry Christmas” could be heard from both parade participants and spectators alike.
The prize winners were announced before the parade started and were given their trophies and large banners that proclaimed them as winners, which they then carried during the parade. Whether a recognized winner or not, all of the parade participants were cheerful, loud and full of Christmas spirit.
