One of the victims in a Wednesday morning three-car collision died after the accident, police said, while three others were injured.

LaGrange police said that Dennis Rosendahl, 77, of South Pine Cove Drive was pronounced dead at West Georgia Medical Center after the wreck. Rosendahl lost control of his 2011 Ford Escape, police said, and struck a 2001 Toyota Camry driven by Dawn Williams, 30, of Columbus, then hit and rolled over a 2003 Chevrolet TrailBlazer driven by Mitzi Dirks, 35, of Hudson Road at the intersection of Vernon Street and Roanoke Road.

Rosendahl’s passenger, Hilda Rosendahl, whose age was unavailable, was flown to Columbus Medical Center for treatment, where she was listed in unsatisfactory condition this morning. Williams and Dirks were treated and released for minor injuries at West Georgia Medical Center.

Dennis Rosendahl’s body was sent to the GBI medical examiner’s office in Atlanta, where an autopsy was scheduled for 10 a.m., said Troup County Coroner Jeff Cook. Some witnesses at the scene Wednesday said it appeared Dennis Rosendahl may have suffered a medical emergency, like heart attack or seizure. Cook expected results from the autopsy later today.

Witnesses at the scene Wednesday said that the red Ford Escape exited the parking lot of Piggly Wiggly on Roanoke Road at a high speed. The vehicle ran over a yield sign as it exited the parking lot, ripping off the wheel-well cover from the vehicle as it entered Roanoke Road, before running the red light at Vernon Street and colliding with the other vehicles.

LaGrange police said any charges that may be filed will be at the conclusion of the investigation, which was ongoing.
