Mrs. Mary Chaffin Landreth, 79, of LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, January, 1, 2013, at Hospice LaGrange.

Mrs. Landreth was born July 27, 1933 in Wedowee, Alabama, the daughter of the late George Merton and Lizziebeth (L.M.) Chaffin. She was a Baptist by faith and, in the past, worked as a seamstress for several large department stores and also worked for several years at Florence Hand Home. She loved the Lord and helping other people. She had a saying she lived by, “Do all the good you can for all the people you can.” She was known for her kind heart and deep and abiding love for her family. Her smile, hugs and laughter will be missed by so many.

Survivors include her beloved husband, Raymond Landreth, married April 7, 2000; two daughters and a son, Susan Segrest and her husband Jimmy Segrest of Rutledge, GA, Angie Loftis Rodgers and her husband Darris Rodgers of LaGrange; Tracy Shaw and his wife Christine Shaw of Summerville; eight grandchildren, Sean Segrest, Adam Segrest, Summer Wood, Shane Hale, Tiffany Loftis, Blake Loftis, Cody Seegar, and Amber Seegar; 18 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Sara Butcher of Sebring, FL, Sherry Rasmus, of Waynesville, MO, and Robbie Longshore of LaGrange; a brother, Max Chaffin of Okeechobee, FL; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Alta Blankenship; and four children, Tammie Hale Dawson, Richard Hope, Mikki, and Jamie.

Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2013 at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Rev. Olin White officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00. In lieu of flowers, donations or contributions may be made to Pineview Baptist Church.
