Mr. George Lee Broughton, 75, of 255 Hammett Road passed away on Friday at Grady Hospital.

George Lee Broughton was born in Troup County the son of the late Taylor Jr. and Minnie Brown Broughton.

He was a member of Leete Hill UMC and attended both East Depot and Ethel Kight High School.

George was employed at Skinner’s Furniture Store and Signal Knitting Mill.

George was the “Neighborhood Barber” and was musically talented in playing the guitar and harmonica.

Survivors include his loving and devoted wife, Bertha Broughton of LaGrange, three daughters; Beryl Lynne Broughton of LaGrange, Robin (Michael) Powell of Riverdale and Valarie Crittenden of Powder Springs, two grandchildren; Shaun (Renesha) Broughton of LaGrange and Joshua Crittenden of Powder Springs, one brother Willie Joe (Katherine) Broughton of Ft. Pierce, FL., mother-in-law Erma Lee Marchman of LaGrange, a devoted niece Mary Owens of Palmetto, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and special friends.

He is preceded in death in addition to his parents by one brother and three sisters.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 1pm at Leete Hill UMC with the Rev. Lenton Snow officiating.

The interment will be in Shadowlawn cemetery.

The family will receive friends at his home at 255 Hammett Road.
