Roberta Christine Whitfield, 86, passed on Monday, June 11, 2012.
She was born on September 3, 1925 in Mountville Georgia to the late Emma Lou Towns Allen and James Walker. Roberta and her husband William Henry Whitfield were united in marriage for 51 years.
Mrs. Whitfield was a member of the St. James CME Church, Revis Street, LaGrange, Georgia. She served on the Missionary Board, Stewardess Board, The Usher Board, and Senior Choir and was Church Secretary – Treasurer for several years.
She was preceded in death by her Husband William Henry Whitfield and daughter Wynette (Charlie H.) Anita Jones.
Roberta retired as an employee of the Troup County Board of Commissioners. Survivors include her sons and daughters Carolyn Thomas, William Whitfield, Beverly (Alfred) McNair, and Gary (Morrissey) Whitfield; grandsons, Alvin Thomas, Kevin (Maria) Donovan Jones, Jeffery McNair, Solomon Whitfield, and Isaiah Whitfield; great grandchildren.
The funeral service will be Saturday, June 16, 2012 at 11:00 AM at St. James CME Church on Revis Street. The family will receive friends and family on Friday, June 15, 2012 from 7:00 PM to 8:00 PM in the Chapel of Lakes-Dunson-Robertson Funeral Home.
