Mr. David Edward (Pete) Gordon, 81, of LaGrange, passed away Friday, July 13, 2012, at LaGrange Nursing and Rehab.
Mr. Gordon was born April 13, 1931 in LaGrange, son of the Mr. David Alford Gordon and Leodie K. Knott Gordon. He had worked for Callaway Mills, Milliken Mills and retired from Kleentex as Research and Development Director of new products and production. Mr. Gordon was a graduate and active Alumni of Berry College and also of Auburn University. He was a Veteran of the United States Army, a member of the Georgia and Alabama Antique Automobile Association and of Loyd Presbyterian Church. His joy of life was dancing, skating and working with and enjoying his antique automobiles.
Survivors include a sister Mrs. Lillian Louise Loyd of LaGrange, a nephew, Terry A. Cooper of LaGrange, nieces, Katha E. Loyd of LaGrange, and Samantha K. Loyd of Isle Palms, S.C., a step-nephew Michael P. Loyd, a great niece, Sarah Cooper and a great Nephew Indy Cooper. Mr. Gordon was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Jackie Cooper and a brother, Alton Lane Gordon.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 Tuesday at the Loyd Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Tony Dean and Dr. Rix Threadgill officiating. The family will receive friends at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Funeral Home, Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00.
