LaFaye Waugh “Suggie” Buttrum, 82, of LaGrange passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2012 at her home surrounded by her family.

Suggie was born February 2, 1930 in LaGrange, daughter of the late George Earl Waugh and Rosalie Moore Waugh. She had lived in LaGrange all of her life and was a charter member of Franklin Road Baptist Church. Suggie was a graduate of Boone High School, Boone, NC and Perry Business College, LaGrange, GA. She was employed as the office manager with Hav-A-Tampa Cigar Company and later Georgia Pacific before retiring. Suggie was a proud member of the Alcoholic Anonymous and avid supporter of Self Help Harbor in LaGrange. She served as the Grapevine representative of the Stonewall Group of Alcohol Anonymous. She was formerly a foster grandparent and member of Active Life Senior Citizen Center. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, William Hilton Buttrum, two brothers, Bill Waugh and Fred Waugh, and an uncle, Walter Waugh, who raised her and her 3 brothers after their parents died when they were very young in age.

Survivors include two daughters, Jeannie “G.G.” Buttrum of Augusta, GA and Bonnie Foster of LaGrange; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Linny and Lindsey Foster of LaGrange; granddog, Dino Foster; brother and sister-in-law, George Earl and Cutine Waugh of Tallahassee, FL; sister-in-law, Dixie Waugh; special aunt, Allene Waugh; special cousins, Jewell Moore, Gail and Eddie Stone; special nieces and nephews, Freddie and Rita Waugh, Steve Waugh, Donna Justice, Wanda and Wade Pearce, and Ronnie and Carol Waugh.

Funeral services were held today, October 5, 2012 at 2:45 PM at Self Help Harbor, 909 Stonewall Street, LaGrange, GA with Reverend Doug Bingham officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
