Lollie Traylor Love passed away peacefully in her home at Vernon Woods on Oct. 11, 2012.
The daughter of the late L.H. and Mattie Newton Traylor, she was born March 12, 1918, in LaGrange, GA, Gabbetteville Community. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John R. Love, Jr., her sister Martha Jane Felder, and her brother Henderson Traylor.
Lollie and her family moved from the Gabbetteville Community to LaGrange when she was a teenager, and LaGrange became her lifelong home. She graduated from LaGrange High School and LaGrange College. She and John settled in LaGrange after their marriage in 1941. After traveling throughout the United States with John, while he served in the military, she devoted her time to raising her children and being an active member of the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange. She taught an adult Sunday School class and worked as a volunteer in the church office. When her children grew older, she became an English teacher at Troup High School and later LaGrange High School, and a generation of students learned from her to appreciate Shakespeare. She was selected as the STAR Teacher in 1965.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Libba Traylor; children, John (Christine) Love III, Sarajane Love, and Martha Love; seven grandchildren; two step grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and her dear friend and extra daughter, Linda Buchanan.
A memorial service will be held 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 15, 2012 at First United Methodist Church of LaGrange with Mr. Stuart Gulley officiating.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Vernon Woods and a devoted group of caregivers for all their kind and loving care of Lollie in her final years.
In lieu of flowers, donations made be made to the First United Methodist Church of LaGrange in memory of Mrs. Lollie Traylor Love.
