Mr. James R. (Jimmy) Drake, Sr., 78, of Hogansville, died Sunday, Jan. 13, 2013, at West Georgia Medical Center.

Born Oct. 19, 1934 in Yellow Springs, OH, Mr. Drake was the son of the late Robert and Juanita Mikesell Drake. He retired as a Senior Master Chief from the U. S. Navy after 27 years of service and was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars. He was a former Director of Public Works for the City of Hogansville and had been a resident for the past 30 years.

Survivors include his sons and daughters in-law, James, Jr. and Gina of Hogansville, Richard and Diana of Franklin, and Randall and Donna of Plant City, FL; brother, Robert Drake of De Funiak Springs, FL; sisters, Mary Ann Meredith of Panama City, FL, Lois King of Vero Beach, FL, Dolly Drake of Texas, and Susie Stansell, of Silva, NC; grandchildren, Karen, Patrick, Christy, Chloe, and Chase; two great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Lee Drake; brothers, Donald Drake and William Drake; and sisters, Betty McGill, Patty Ratley, and Doris Piatts.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, in the Chapel of Claude A. McKibben and Sons Funeral Home. Rev. Randall Hodge will officiate and interment will be in Myrtle Hill Cemetery with military honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday morning from 10 until 11.
