Mr. Alva P. Bailey, 92, of LaGrange, passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Hospice LaGrange.

Mr. Bailey was born in Troup County September 19, 1920, son of the late Alva Pearson Bailey Sr. and Carrie Cummings Bailey. Mr. Bailey was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II, he was awarded two Purple Hearts while serving in Africa, He was a member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, he had been a dairy farmer for over thirty years, a volunteer for the Rosemont Rescue and Fire Department, had been a member of Dairy Herd Improvement Association.

He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Mrs. Clentis Bailey of LaGrange, niece, Teresa Trapnell of Cocoa Beach, Fl., and a niece-in-law, Janis Lifsey of West Union, SC, several great nieces and nephews, and a host of good neighbors and friends. He was preceded by a daughter, Loretta Lynn Bailey, sister, Carolyn Lifsey and a nephew, Gene Lifsey.

Funeral services will be held at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church at 2:00 PM on Monday, with Rev. Gary Whatley officiating. Graveside services with Military Honors will follow at Meadoway Gardens.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made in Mr. Bailey’s memory, to Hospice LaGrange, 1510 Vernon Road, LaGrange, Ga., 30240.
