Mr. John Anthony Smith, 58, of LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013, at West Georgia Medical Center.

Mr. Smith was born August 29, 1954, son of John W. Jr. and Mildred Grace Wright Smith. He was owner and operator of Smith’s Small Engine Repair and had worked at Hunt’s Dairy. Mr. Smith was a member of Gray Hill Baptist Church and the F &AM Masons Long Cane Lodge #424. He was a graduate of Troup High School and West Georgia Tech in small engine repair.

Survivors in addition to his parents, include his wife of 40 years, Linda M. Smith; uncle, Fred Smith; mother-in-law, Christine Sheets; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Rosalyn Sheets; sister-in-law, Elaine Tims; brother-in-law, Vernon Sheets, all of LaGrange; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joe and Sara Sheets of Hogansville; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sonya and Jim Smallwood of Brookhaven, MS; several cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Travis Sheets.

Funeral services will be at 4:00 Thursday at the Hunter-Allen-Myhand Chapel with Dr. Tommy Smith, Rev. Lamar Womack and Jonathan Sheets officiating. Interment will be in Restlawn Memory Gardens. The family will be at the home of his parents, John W. Jr. and Mildred Grace Smith, at 1300 Bartley Road, and also at the home of his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Gilbert and Rosalyn Sheets, at 1319 Washington Street. They will receive friends at the funeral home Wednesday evening from 6:00 to 8:00.

In lieu of flowers contributions in memory of Mr. John Anthony Smith may be made to Gray Hill Baptist Church, 3285 Bartley Road, West Point, GA 31833.
