Mr. Benjamin Hutchinson Sr., formerly of Highway 18 in Pine Mountain, passed away Thursday at West Georgia Health.
Mr. Hutchinson, a native of Harris County, was born February 27, 1926, and was the son of the late Mylas and Cora Weaver Hutchinson. Mr. Hutchinson was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He was a retired dairy farmer and was a devoted member of Friendship Baptist Church, Hamilton, Ga. God allowed Mr. Hutchinson to leave this world on the very day he entered it 87 years later.
Survivors include one son, Benjamin (Lytwaive) Hutchinson Jr., Woodbridge, VA; two daughters: Artie Bell Hutchinson Norwood, Whitesville, GA; Rubena (William Avery) Stargell, LaGrange; ten grandsons: Willie Ben (Audria) Norwood, Kenneth Griggs, Clifton Stargell, Benjamin Hutchinson IIl, Bryon Hutchinson, Bobby Shelley, Cornelius Rome, Travis Rome, Mylas Rome, Toney Rome; six granddaughters: Veronica (Christopher) Powell, Penelope (James) Hall, Tammy (Jeff) Terrell, Litisia Shelley, Naza Shelley, Otisha Rome; twenty-seven great grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; one sister: Cora Hutchinson; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Artie Mae Hutchinson; daughters: Victoria Griggs and Rosa Rome; son-in-law, Willie S. Norwood; sisters and brothers.
The Celebration of Life Service will be Monday, March 4, 2013 at 1:00PM at the Mountain Springs Baptist Church, Highway 18, West Point. Rev. Alfonzia Simpson Jr. and Rev. Lacoya Day will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery with military honors.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Rubena Stargell at 623 Ware Street.
