LaGRANGE — More details emerged in the case against Alexi Owens, 49, of Meriwether County during a hearing Thursday in Troup County Magistrate Court.

Owens is charged with two counts of rape, two counts of child molestation and two counts of enticing a child for indecent purposes.

Troup County Sheriff’s Office Lt. Kelli Ellington testified Owens allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl twice on a dirt road somewhere off Dallis Mill Road in Troup County in July.

Ellington said the family of the teen waited to report the attack for more than a month because they were scared of Owens.

Owens told the family that on those two days in July he needed the teen to babysit or help him, stated Ellington. But according to the victim, he drove her around the back roads of Meriwether and Troup counties before he allegedly pulled over on the dirt road, pinned her against the car and raped her.

Ellington testified the family said Owens had been threatening them and would frequently drive by and watch the house before his eventual arrest on Aug. 28.

Owens’ lawyer, Ken Gordon, asked Ellington if the victim mentioned anything “out of ordinary about the encounter?”

“Besides it being rape?” Ellington responded.

Gordon then asked if the victim said anything about the nature or describe his client’s sexual organ, to which the investigator quickly replied, “No.”

Presiding Judge Vicki Sue McWaters ordered Owens held without bond. His case was bound over to Superior Court.
