CARROLLTON — West Georgia Technical College has announced the hiring of Steve Cromer to the position of senior director for advanced manufacturing.
Cromer comes to West Georgia Tech by way of Southern Crescent Technical College, where he was the dean of trade and technology.
“I am privileged to be selected to join the West Georgia Tech team,” Cromer said. “I look forward to advancing relationships with area industries through excellence in technical education of the workforce.”
Cromer will serve as West Georgia Tech’s chief liaison between the college and manufacturing business partners in WGTC’s service area. He will spearhead the collaborative effort to work with those companies to develop workforce education strategies and address any skills gaps.
Cromer will also be the project lead for West Georgia Tech’s advanced manufacturing and precision manufacturing efforts. He will also serve as the conduit between the companies and West Georgia Tech in an effort to develop future training partnerships.
The hiring of Cromer is the latest move in a strategic effort by West Georgia Technical College to work closely with local manufacturing companies to provide training opportunities and produce ready-to-hire graduates that are skilled in areas of need, according to a press release from the college.
“We are proud to announce the addition of Steve Cromer to our family, and I personally am very excited about what lies ahead with this new position,” West Georgia Tech President Steve G. Daniel said. “One of our most important points of emphasis as a College is to provide the skilled workers in areas of need for our local industry partners. Steve will work closely with local industry leaders to ensure that we are maximizing those efforts.”
Cromer began his new role Monday.
