A woman called LaGrange police after she said her boyfriend came to her workplace in the 1600 block of West Lukken Industrial Drive about 6:50 a.m. Monday, grabbed her cell phone out of her hand and took off.

The woman told officers the two were arguing at the time of the incident.

Detectives located the man, identified as Deontre Rakim Johnson, 26, of LaGrange, and charged him with robbery by sudden snatching under the Family Violence Act.

LPD arrests wanted man

LaGrange police officers looking for a man who allegedly shoplifted from McDonald’s at 1502 Lafayette Parkway found their suspect Monday about 10:15 a.m., and discovered he was wanted in another county as well.

Justin Thomas Wright, 34, of LaGrange, had active felony warrants through Muscogee County issued almost a year ago for theft by taking in the amount of $4,000.

Wright had a misdemeanor warrant for theft by deception, also taken out a year ago, after he allegedly sold three stolen video games to the Game Stop in Columbus.

He was taken to the Troup County Jail.

Texaco burglary

LaGrange police responding to an alarm activation at the Texaco located at 1511 Lafayette Parkway about 1:35 a.m. Monday found one of the doors open to the business.

Officers examined video footage that showed an unknown male entering the store 10 minutes before police arrived. The video shows the man move around the counter area and steal an undetermined amount of currency, officers said.

The case was handed over to LPD’s Criminal Investigation Section for further review.

Burglary

• A homeowner in the 200 block of Fannin Street reported Monday at 7:30 a.m. someone stole a 27-inch flat screen Vizio TV valued at $150 dollars, pillow cases from her bed, a microwave valued at $50 and an old radio with a CD player valued at $20.

Suspicious power outage

A woman called 911 after her electricity suddenly went off inside her home in the 800 block of Fourth Avenue about 9:30 p.m. Sunday. She stated someone shot into her home a few months ago and she saw an unidentified man in front of her residence earlier in the day.

LaGrange police officers stated when they checked the fuse box outside the house, they noticed someone had flipped off the power breaker.

Police are investigating.
