An employee of Sewon America at 1000 Sewon Boulevard is in trouble with the law after he was allegedly caught stealing another employee’s prescription medication just before 9:30 a.m. Thursday.

The victim called police after he noticed his prescribed bottle of Hydrocodone pills was missing from his lunch bag, stated LaGrange police. The employee said the bag was inside a refrigerator in the employee break room. He said he just had the prescription filled on July 23 and 80 pills remained in the bottle.

Officers reviewed surveillance footage and identified another employee who allegedly stole the lunch bag.

Police contacted the man, who stated he intended to bring the pills back when he returned to work, the report states.

The remaining 80 Hydrocodone pills have an estimated street value of $2,000.

Police took out arrest warrants on the suspect and charged him with possession of a schedule II substance and theft by taking.

Officer’s gun stolen

The LaGrange Police Department helped one of its own after an officer reported his gun stolen Thursday morning from the center console of his personal vehicle parked off North Greenwood Street.

He told police his car doors lock automatically. The officer also said he noticed the front tag to his vehicle missing Wednesday morning.

Police are investigating.

Toddler burned

A toddler sustained minor burns after accidentally pulling a pot of boiling water off a stove in a home in the 1000 block of Houston Street about 10 p.m. Thursday, according to LaGrange police.

A grandmother was babysitting the child and thought he was asleep, officers stated. She was boiling hot dogs and had stepped into another room when the toddler pulled the pot down, burning one of the boy’s arms, said police.

The burns were not severe and were treated with medicinal cream. EMTs transported the toddler to a local hospital to be checked by a doctor.

Man threatens hospital

The head of security at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center on Vernon Road called police about 4:15 p.m. Thursday after a man allegedly made threats to the hospital.

The suspect made several phone calls to the hospital’s human resource department and told employees the water fountains were poisoned, a police report states. He also allegedly told employees, “He would not care if the hospital was destroyed.”

LaGrange police were investigating.
