Mrs. Ruth Moore passed away Friday at her home.

 

She was born November 9, 1926 in Elizabeth City, North Carolina; the only child born to the late, Mavin Williams and Rosa Mae Harvey Blackmon.

 

She received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Elizabeth City State Teachers College, Elizabeth City, North Carolina; and her Master’s Degree from North Carolina A & T College in Greensboro, North Carolina; and went on to retire from Troup County School System.

She was a devoted member of Warren Temple United Methodist Church .

Ruth became a member of the Xi Omega Chapter of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc in 1996. She was hardworking, dedicated, and dependable in all of her volunteer activities. She has numerous volunteer hours as a “Pink Lady” at our local hospital. In addition, she was a devoted member of the West Georgia Council of Christian African American Women and the LaGrange, Georgia Chapter of Continental Societies, Inc.

 

Survivors include her husband of sixty-three years, George Robert Moore, Sr.; her sons, George Robert Moore, Jr., LaGrange, GA; and Edmund H. Moore, Huber Heights, OH; grandchildren, Gemika R. Moore, San Ramon, CA; Mackenzie H. Moore, Huber Heights, OH and Madison A. Moore, Huber Heights, OH; two great grandchildren, Javell and Eva of San Ramon, CA; countless relatives and friends.

The Celebration of Life Service will be Saturday at 12:00 noon at Warren Temple U. M. Church. George Moore, Jr. will officiate. Entombment will follow at Restlawn Memory Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Warren Temple U. M. Church at 416 East Depot Street, LaGrange, GA 30240.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5-7 at Warren Temple U. M. Church; and will be at their home at 711 Pyracantha Drive.
