NEWNAN – Another trip to Coweta County, and another win for the LaGrange Grangers.

After beating Newnan 6-3 on Wednesday, LaGrange edged East Coweta 2-1 one day later.

It was the third straight win for the Grangers, who improved to 8-5 as they continue to get ready for their Region 5-AAAA schedule.

LaGrange will host McIntosh on Saturday before beginning region play on Tuesday at Cedartown.

In Wednesday’s win, which came against an East Coweta team that had won nine of its first 11 games, LaGrange got an outstanding starting pitching performance from Matthew Anderson, who went six innings to get the win.

Anderson, a senior right-hander, overwhelmed East Coweta’s hitters.

Anderson gave up four hits and one run, and he had five strikeouts.

John Morgan pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh inning to get the save for Anderson.

Jacob Vinson and Trevor Norris each had two hits for LaGrange, and Ben Anderson, David Sweat, Champ Willis, Charles Crawford and Cole Freeman each had one hit.

Matthew Anderson and Freeman each had an RBI.

LaGrange scored a run in the top of the fourth to take a 1-0 lead.

East Coweta tied it with a run in the bottom of the sixth before LaGrange scored the go-ahead run in the top of the seventh inning.
