The Celebration of Life Service for Ms. Emily Woods of Pine Mountain will be held Tuesday at Noon at the Saint Paul United Methodist Church in Pine Mountain. Pastor Renee Clark and Rev. John Tompkins will officiate. Burial will be in the Southview Cemetery.
Ms. Emily, a native of Harris County, was born December 24, 1936 and was the daughter of the late Mae Dovie Cannon and Omar Gay Sr. She was employed as a cook at Gill’s restaurant and homemaker for the Davis, Smith and Reames Families. During her employment she created an everlasting relationship with these families.
She had a big heart and a love for people. She enjoyed going to the Harris County Senior Community Center, playing games on her IPad, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
She was a faithful member of Saint Paul United Methodist Church where she served as an Usher for many years.
Ms. Emily was loved by many and will truly be missed. Precious and loving memories of her will be forever cherished by her children: Dinah Faye Ransom, Atlanta, GA; Rev. James (Phyllis) Woods, LaGrange; Joyce (Todd) Johnson, Atlanta, GA; Joann Woods, Fairburn, GA; five brothers: Sylvester (Mary) Cannon, Tyrone, GA; Charles (Joann) Cannon, LaGrange; Robert Gay, Atlanta; Sammy (Jackie) Gay, Decatur, GA; Walter Gay, Decatur, GA; two sisters: Bertha Cannon, LaGrange; Sally Cannon, Lithia Springs, GA; two very special aunts: Martha Fannin, Chattanooga, TN; Mamie Bell Whatley, Columbus, GA; ten grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, many other relatives and friends.
The family will be at their home at 113 Blanchard Avenue in Pine Mountain.
