Mae Belle Dalrymple

Mrs. Mae Belle Dalrymple Brooks passes away Sunday, July 23, 2017, at Florence Hand Home where she had been a resident for three years. Born in Woodland, AL, on February 10, 1923, Mrs. Brooks was the daughter of the late Leola Rice Dalrymple and Varnell Dalrymple. She was preceded in death by her husband Jesse Gee Brooks of South Hill, VA.
Mrs. Brooks was raised in LaGrange, graduated from LaGrange High School and was a member of the LaGrange College class of 1944. After marrying, she moved to South Hill, VA and worked for the South Hill Motor Company until she returned to LaGrange in 1959 after the death of her husband Jesse. She worked as an Accountant for Callaway Mills, Milliken and Company, and retired from Eli Witt Co.
As an orginal member since the 1920s of Trinity on the Hill United Methodist Church, Mrs. Brooks served as pianist there for several decades. She was a member of the Wesleyan Fellowship Sunday School Class and United Methodist Women. Her Christian service also extended to being treasurer of the LaGrange District United Methodist Women for two terms.
Mrs. Brooks is survived by her daughter, Gail Brooks Daniel Browne and her husband Charles; grandson and wife Paul (Katie) Daniel; great grand sons, Michael Daniel, Ben Daniel, and Jesse Daniel of Dadeville, AL; two half sisters, Katherene D. House of Forrest Park, GA and Jeannette Raymond of Dadeville, AL; with several nieces and nephews in Virginia and Alabama.
The family will be at the home of her daughter, Gail Browne and her husband Charlie. In lieu of flowers, it is requested that donations be made to Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church, P.O. Box2829, LaGrange, GA 30241.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Florence Hand Home for all the kind attention and care they gave Mae over the years. She enjoyed her interaction with them all and was interested in their lives.
The Funeral Service will be on Wednesday, July 26, 2017, at 11 a.m. in the Striffler-Hamby Mortuary Chapel with family visitation from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. there at the Chapel. Interment will be at Shadowlawn Cemetery.
