Edna J. “Nannie” Hardin

Edna J. “Nannie” Hardin, 73, of LaGrange, GA was ushered into the arms of Jesus on Aug. 21, 2017, from her daughter’s home in Carnesville, GA.
Edna was born Jan. 18, 1944, in Crossville, AL to the late Joseph Clayton and Ida Johnson. She loved working at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, and was a beacon of light to all she came in contact with. Edna loved the Lord, her family, her church, her ministry at the funeral home, and all her friends. She was previously employed with the Troup County Chamber of Commerce, while there she was Vice President of the Women’s Division and awarded the Woman of the Year Award. Edna was a faithful member of First Baptist Church on the Square and the Ruth Sunday School class where she enjoyed volunteering and spending time with her friends. She was very involved with her community, being on the board of Crime Stoppers and serving as Vice Chair. Edna was also a member of the Jaycees, serving as Vice President and received the Woman of the Year Award and was a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, to which she was Girl of the Year and Valentine Queen. She will be greatly missed by all that knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, Doug Hardin; and siblings, Albert Johnson, Otis Johnson, and Faye Kominczak.
Survivors include her daughters, Pam (Phillip) Garrett of Carnesville, GA and Trish (Darrell) Flowers of LaGrange, GA; grandchildren, Garrett Flowers, Raelyn Flowers, and Joseph Garrett; great grandchild, Jaxton Flowers; sister, Maudie Sanders and brother, Junior (Joann) Johnson, both of Boaz, AL; several nieces, nephews, tons of church family and friends.
The Gathering of family and friends will be Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017, at Striffler-Hamby Mortuary from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at First Baptist Church on the Square with Pastor Cade Farris, the Rev. Tom Farr and the Rev. Phillip Garrett officiating. Burial will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery.
