TEMPLE – The Callaway Lady Cavaliers beat Temple 6-1 on Tuesday for their first Region 5-AA win of the season.

Oeisha Jenkins was one of the stars of the day.

Jenkins not only pitched the seven-inning complete game, but she also excelled at the plate with a double, a home run, and two RBIs.

On the mound, Jenkins limited Temple to five hits and two walks, and she had four strikeouts.

Kelly Carlisle had two hits and was hit by a pitch, and she scored two runs, and Jasmine Dukes had two hits with a double and an RBI.

Lydia Bartlett, Callaway’s junior catcher, had two hits with a double and three RBIs, and Skylar Rice had a hit.

Callaway finished with 11 hits.

“We had a good day, and everybody got to play,” Callaway coach Ashley Summerlin said. “Everybody was involved in the game.”

Callaway had lost seven straight games, so Summerlin was happy to see his players get to enjoy a victory for the first time in a while.

“I’m excited for them,” Summerlin said. “They played well and battled hard.”

Callaway will host LaGrange today and Landmark Christian on Thursday before finishing the regular season next week.

“We’ll try to get better every day,” Summerlin said. “”That’s our goal, to be playing our best at the end of the year.”
