Recapping a busy weekend

What a weekend in Troup County.
We don’t really know how else to say it. Anyone that tried to take part in everything going on this weekend probably deserves Monday off, though we don’t suggest trying to use that as an excuse to miss work.
From homecoming games for Callaway High School, LaGrange College and Point University, to the Hummingbird Festival in Hogansville, the Craft Beer Festival at Sweetland, the Bike MS: Atlanta Peach Ride 2017, the LaGrange Fire Department’s Citizen Day and all of the other homecoming activities going on, it felt like there wasn’t a second this weekend where something wasn’t happening.
Our entire staff played a part in covering the events this weekend, and even with multiple people covering everything, it was a bit exhausting.
In many counties the size of Troup County, one of those events would make for a headline weekend. Many other cities and communities probably can’t fathom to have quite that much going on at once.
The big crowds were the best news. Hundreds attended the Craft Beer Festival and the MS ride, and thousands were at the Hummingbird Festival.
LaGrange had a part in the MS Ride for the second year in a row and has plans to return next year. The Craft Beer Festival has only been going on for a few years, but has already become a local tradition.
And the Hummingbird Festival remains one of the best festivals in Georgia. There’s truly something for everyone. We hope everyone had a chance to get out to at least one of these events this weekend. It was one of the busiest weeks of the year.
