The Callaway Cavaliers will head into their final game of the regular season ranked 10th in the state.

The Georgia Sports Writers Association released its final poll of the regular season on Tuesday, and Callaway was ranked 10th in Class AA.

Callaway was ranked ninth the previous week, and it dropped a spot after beating Temple 35-14 to improve to 8-1.

Troup wraps up the regular season against Jordan on Thursday before hosting a playoff game the following week.

Heard County, which beat Callaway 35-28 in a game that determined the Region 5-AA championship, is ranked seventh.

Benedictine, which won the Class AA state title a year ago, continues to lead the way at number one, and Screven County is second.

Callaway was ranked as high as second earlier in the season before falling to Heard County.

In Class AAAA, Troup received a handful of votes, but it is on the outside looking in.

Troup’s opponent this week, Cartersville, is ranked first in Class AAAA.

Cartersville is 10-0 and has won 39 consecutive games dating back to the 2015 season.

Another Region 5-AAAA team, Cedartown, is ranked ninth.
