Johnson Jay Nixon

Mr. Johnson Jay Nixon, Jr. 91, of LaGrange, GA made his way to his heavenly home on Sunday, Dec. 17, 2017.
Mr. Nixon was born April 30, 1926, in Bowdon, Carroll County, Georgia to the late Johnson Jay Nixon, Sr. and Ella Mae Wright Nixon. He began his employment as a heavy equipment operator for Wayne Nixon Construction and retired from Keeble Construction. Mr. Nixon proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War and was a member of Grayhill Church of God. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Magdalene Vaughn Nixon; daughter, and his seven siblings.
Survivors include his daughter, Lana (Johnny) Clary; grandchildren, Jana (Jeremy) Jones, Jeni (Bobby) McClellan, and Jamie (Valarie) Clary all of LaGrange, GA; 13 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
The gathering of family and friends will be Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2017, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the funeral home. The life celebration service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2017, in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary with the Rev. David Cross and the Rev. Jerry Scarborough officiating. Burial will follow in Reed’s Chapel Cemetery.
