COLUMBUS – It was a productive trip to Columbus for the Callaway High soccer teams, who both beat Jordan in a Region 5-AA doubleheader on Wednesday.
In the girls’ game, Callaway cruised to a 10-0 victory, with senior Kelly Carlisle leading the way with five goals.
Shali Hackley and Chloe McGuffin added two goals apiece, and Alyssa Niner scored one goal.
Cheney Eubanks had two assists.
In the boys’ game, it was all Callaway, which rolled to a 9-0 win.
Ian Bryan led the Cavaliers with four goals, Grayson Lambert had two goals, and Michael Everett, Tyler Lewis and Noah Stephens had one apiece.
Both Callaway teams are in great position in Region 5-AA with 5-1 records, and they’re both one game behind region-leading Lamar County.
Callaway will host Lamar County on Tuesday as the teams meet for the second time this season.
Earlier, it was Lamar County’s teams sweeping Callaway to move into first place in the region. Callaway’s teams complete their region schedules with home games against Temple on Wednesday.
If Callaway’s teams finish first or second in the region, they’ll be at home for the first round of the state playoffs.
