Local authorities still aren’t sure why a Florida stabbing suspect traveled more than five hours to Troup County Sunday.
Quandrell Xavier Steele, 25, was arrested Sunday after his alleged involvement in stabbing three people Saturday night in Bradford County, Florida, which is about an hour southwest of Jacksonville. As of Sunday night, he had not been booked and the full extent of his charges was not yet known.
On Monday, the Troup County Sheriff’s Office released the 12 charges from Florida against Steele. According to TCSO, he was charged with three counts of robbery with a weapon, burglary of an occupied dwelling while armed, three counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, grand theft of a motor vehicle, two charges of petit theft, and one county of battery and criminal mischief. Steele is wanted for his alleged involvement in stabbing three people at approximately 4:58 a.m. Saturday morning.
The victims in the crime, two females and one male, were also robbed along with other individuals at a residence in Bradford County after a dispute broke out at a home. According to the press release, two of the stabbing victims had been released from the hospital and another was listed in critical condition.
Steele allegedly stole a car and he and a female, Cindy Moore, fled the area shortly after the crimes, according to the TCSO press release. Moore was initially arrested with Steele but she was released Monday with no charges in Florida, according to TCSO.
Deputies from Bradford County received information that Steele could possibly be in the area of Hillcrest Road in Troup County. Investigators with the TCSO and a K9 unit from the LaGrange Police Department began checking the area for the suspects.
Around 3:43 p.m. Sunday, an investigator spotted the stolen car, a 1995 Ford Fusion, driving in the area of New Franklin Road and Wares Cross Road, according to the TCSO. The vehicle was pulled over, and both the male and female were taken into custody without incident, according to the press release. According to the Bradford County Sheriff’s Office jail page, Steele has been arrested several previous times, including once for a battery charge and twice for marijuana possession.
