Man arrested, found with five pounds of marijuana in vehicle

A man was arrested by the Troup County Sheriff’s Office for possessing five pounds of marijuana in his vehicle Tuesday around 5:43 p.m. Jacari Atkinson, 32, was pulled over for speeding and following too closely on Interstate 85 near mile marker 10 south, according to TCSO Sgt. Stewart Smith.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer found the marijuana in the vehicle.
According to the Troup County Jail arrest/release report, Atkinson, from Valley, was charged with marijuana trafficking and his bond was $10,000.
Man arrested for cocaine possession
Rodney Davidson, 48, was arrested for cocaine possession at the 1400 block of Murphy Avenue Tuesday at 8:10 p.m.
According to the police report, an officer was at the scene for a dispute when Davidson, who had an active warrant, arrived.
Davidson was placed under arrest.
While searching him, Davidson began to resist the search, according to the police report.
Officers found a prescription pill bottle with six suspected crack cocaine rocks inside, according to the police report.
Davidson told police the rocks were cocaine.
According to the Troup County Jail arrest/release reports, Davidson is charged with simple assault.
Steel stolen from Jindal Films
More than $6,000 worth of steel was allegedly stolen from Jindal Films on Pegasus Parkway Saturday around noon.
A security guard told police that a site manager told her two trucks were going to remove some steel structures.
According to the police report, a superintendent saw the trucks loading up steel and learned that it was not supposed to be taken.
The superintendent valued the beams at $6,000 each and did not know the exact quantity taken, according to the police report.
