The Callaway Cavaliers took care of business against Jordan, and now they’ll turn their attention to a region-championship showdown against Heard County.
Callaway (17-6 overall) beat Jordan three times last week to improve to 8-1 in Region 5-AA.
Callaway and Heard County are tied for first place in the region, and they’ll play three times this week with the title on the line.
Callaway will host a single game on Tuesday, and the teams will play a doubleheader on Friday at Heard County.
It will be the final three region games for both teams.
Last season, Callaway beat Heard County three times on the way to a 12-0 region record.
Callaway, after beating Jordan 7-4 at home earlier in the week, swept a doubleheader on Friday in Columbus.
In the first game on Friday, Chandler Lott and two other pitchers combined for the shutout as Callaway beat Jordan 8-0.
In the second game, Callaway enjoyed a big offensive effort on the way to an 18-13 victory.
In Friday’s opener, Lott got the start, and he was dominant, as he typically is.
In his four innings, Lott held Jordan to two hits and one walk while striking out five.
Brooks Bledsoe pitched two innings and he held Jordan to two hits, and Austin Barber finished it with a scoreless seventh inning.
Lott, Braelin Mitchell, Kyle Campbell and Walt Stewart each had two hits for Callaway.
In the second game, Callaway had its highest scoring output of the season.
Trent Sheppard led the offensive barrage with three hits, three RBIs and three runs scored.
Campbell had two hits with two RBIs, and he scored four runs, and Bledsoe had two RBIs.
