Staff Sgt. Matthew Woodruff, the son of Sheriff James Woodruff, and Sharon Woodruff, was recognized for exceptional performance as an instructor for officer candidate school at Fort Benning.
Woodruff was the trainer for three 12-week cycles and “went above and beyond to ensure students are trained to the highest of standards,” according to the certificate of achievement he received.
The certificate also says he consistently graduated the highest percentage of officers in the top 20 percent of each class.
“He is a tireless and dedicated trainer and mentor whose hard work will permeate through the Army for years to come. His actions reflect great credit upon him, his unit, the 199th Infantry of the Brigade, the United States Army Maneuver Center of Excellence and the United States Army,” read the final line of the certificate.
