Eight vehicles broken into at Shuford Fields

Eight vehicles were allegedly entered near the Shuford Fields parking lot Thursday night.
According to the police report, the first victim told police his car’s lock was punched, and his work laptop was taken between 6:48 p.m. and 8:18 p.m. The victim valued the computer at $750. His vehicle was parked on Ragland Street.
A second victim’s vehicle was found with its lock punched, and the owner’s wallet and work laptop were missing. The owner valued his laptop at $500 and wallet at $35. The owner told police he had been parked there since 6:30 p.m.
According to the police report, a third vehicle was found punched. The owner told police two purses valued at $130, $256 in cash, a pair of glasses valued at $350, a wedding ring valued $800, a work laptop valued at $750 and a work digital camera were taken. The owner told police her vehicle had been parked since 6:30 p.m.
A fourth vehicle was found with a punched hole, according to the police report. The owner said it had been there since 7:40 p.m. and nothing had been taken. A fifth vehicle was found with a hole punch and items were strewn through it, according to the police report. The owner told police nothing was missing from the vehicle.
A sixth owner told police his vehicle received two gouges on the passenger side of his truck bed. According to the police report, an officer noted that the gouges could have been caused by a screwdriver or hard metallic object. The owner valued the damage to be $700. A seventh victim told police her vehicle had damage at the driver side window trim and numerous fingerprints and smudges were found on it. The owner estimated the damage to be $500.
According to the police report, officers were also later called about another entered vehicle. The owner told police her vehicle was unlocked, and the only item missing was a Brighton purse, valued at $300. The owner said her vehicle was parked from 7:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
