Market on Main is moving locations in an effort to increase foot traffic.

The weekly market starts in June and runs through August each summer and has traditionally been held in the parking lot behind the AMC Theater. The market will now move to the sidewalks surrounding Flagpole Park, where it’ll be in a much more visible location.

The move is a positive for the market. There are many people in LaGrange who aren’t even aware the market takes place each year. A lot of traffic travels to Wild Leap Brew Co., but the market takes place on Saturday morning, which is rarely going to be a really busy time at the brewery.

The vendors at the market are loyal and many of them come back every week. Many of the same customers go back each week to buy fresh produce too. Those are the kind of relationships formed in an environment like the market, where customers can talk directly to growers about their product.

The new location might even entice a few more vendors to take part.

The market will be at its new location the rest of the summer, and if it’s successful there, a permanent move seems likely. We hope you’ll make it a part of your plans for Saturday morning.
